Reflection:
This was a fun challenge. I went to some abandoned train tracks near the Boston University area on the Cambridge side of the bridge. I walked up and down the train tracks twice. I know it is supposed to be the equivalent of three city blocks, and I feel as though I did that give or take. Moving on to the assignment, I think I still struggle to see what is better between an edited photo and one that is not. I know it is supposed to be subjective, but how do I know what a person wants more, the raw image that felt so in the moment, or the one where I messed around with exposure or texture, or the whites or blacks in an image. I guess I also struggle with the fact that this is no longer an in the moment image. There is thought and curation behind it, and that is hard with instinctual photography. I understand getting out dust spots or minor things like that, but where does photography end and being a producer/editor begin? I also just loved this assignment. As someone, who loves more fashion and staged shoots, this took me out of my element, but I found questions and interesting composition with the images I selected. This approach allowed me to play with different angles, trying to frame and re-frame what make someone stop and question the image.
