Reflection: When looking at this assignment, I anxious because I was bound to have mishaps due to uncertainty with the lighting or posing. I love staged/conceptual photography, it is freeing to place a subject in a location, which mine was this industrial pillar area near a school, and have them use the location to their advantage. There could be infinite possibilities with what could happen. I used a prime 50mm 1.8 lens, which has been my best friend in terms of shooting, as I feel like I can have fun with photography. Although most of the photos turned out well, I fear that a couple could be underexposed, which is frustrating considering I could not edit them in Lightroom or take more than 10 photos. In my ninth photo, I’d love for it to be brighter, with the brick being a little more illuminated. It looks too dark and doesn’t add much, but that’s the struggle with only taking 10 photos. Something I realize that I am not a fan of as well, I think I like to a take a million photos with just one pose. However, this made me extremely aware of lighting, posing, background, and which mode to be on. I fluctuated between Manual and Aperture Priority for most of the photos. I also used spot metering to see if that would be fun, and I feel like it work well. Overall, I loved this assignment, however, I want to be able to take more pictures next time. I am excited for the creative portion of the class when it comes to staging/conceptual design.
